Got my motorcycle learners permit last week, buying my bike tommorow. Never rode an mc before, how hard is it?
Buying a Honda Rebel. Plan on driving it home from the dealer.
You'll be fine... Just do atleast 10 (yes 10) start and COMPLETE stops from first to second gear in the parking lot, a few figure 8's etc. (do this at the dealership)... Tell them you are doing this for practice. Try out the breaks to see how sensitive they are and when you feel comfortable... GO FOR IT!... Try excellerating to 20-30 mph (again in the parking lot; a quick excelleration) but this can be done in most parking lots.... WATCH FOR PARKING LOT TRAFFIC!... In this way you will push your limits on the new bike (given 30-50 yards or so). IF they don't have this space do an alley or some other close open area of low traffic. Choose a low traffic time do this... (NOT at rush hour)!... Choose a low traffic time to pick it up (just for safety).
Cars are your enemy... Make believe that you are invisible to them! (I would give this advise to any MC rider.) If you believe they can't see you - you'll be fine! Enjoy the NEW ride!
