All New 2011 Arai Vector 2 Helmet
Monday, February 14th, 2011Arai has launched yet another new helmet for 2011. The name is familiar, but the design is ground-breaking. The Vector 2 follows the hugely popular Vector series of Full Face motorcycle helmets. The Vector was designed with the idea that less-is-more and the Vector 2 was also built around that theory. Basically the helmet is top of the line protection that does not compromise craftsmanship, performance comfort and fit - in fact, it enhances all of the above.
The head-friendly "intermediate oval" fit is highly desired as it will fit most head shapes very well. It is designed to optimize ventilation and alleviate pressure points. The removable and replaceable comfort lining is available in several different size options to fine-tune the fitment and they have added 5mm peel-away pad layers at the temple and cheek areas to help you fully customize the fit of the helmet.
The ventilation is bigger and better. The front intake vent was designed to be larger and easier to adjust with a bigger switch for the vent closure mechanism. The larger front vent combined with the larger rear vent creates 50% more vacuum which not only aids in ventilation, but heat removal as well. The side ports are also larger and designed to aid in air flow and noise level reduction.
The innovative Hyper-Ridge band that was first seen on the RX-Q has been incorporated into the Vector 2. The Hyper-Ridge band is designed to lower the center of gravity of the helmet, making it feel lighter, and also makes it extremely stable at speed. The bottom opening of the helmet is larger which makes it easier to get on and off.
The wider eye port from the super-performing Corsair V racing helmet made it's way into the design of the new Vector 2. The wider eye port allows for a larger field of vision enabling the rider to see more of the road and what's going on around him. The same SAI visor that is used with the Corsair V and the RX-Q is included with the Vector 2.
And lastly, the new Arai Vector 2 has been subjected to all the rigorous testing required to meet (or exceed) the Snell M2010 and DOT standards which means it is considered a "world-wide" helmet, meeting all US and European standards.
The Vector 2 is available in XS-XXL, the solid colors are priced from $431.95 - $458.95, the Diamond Solids are $431.95 and the graphics are priced at $548.95. The available solid colors are white, black , frost black, red, silver and yellow. The Diamond solids are available in black, blue, gray and white. There are 5 different graphic designs available, the Marker (available in black or red), the Thrill (available in green or white), the ID, the Launch and the Neevesy.
It seems as though the Vector 2 would be the obvious choice for the rider looking for a proven, innovative, top-of-the-line helmet. If you still have doubts, keep in mind that Arai Helmets has won the JD Power customer satisfaction award for eleven consecutive years. I think I am convinced!
