Motorcycle Tale

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

My Dad loves motorbikes and spends most of the weekend working on them. He doesn't just maintain them he builds new bikes from old ones. He is always looking out for custom Motorcycle Parts which he can buy to make his bikes a little different.

In fact one of my very first memories is of my Dad working hard in the garage. I would go out and join him wanting to spend time with him. I couldn't have been more than three, maybe four years old. He would have his Custom Motorcycle parts and I would try and fit the old ones to my bike. Obviously I wasn't very successful.

I have to admit that I got into bikes because of my dad and I did it at an early age. That is not the only way that people do get into fixing bikes. One of my friends decided he wanted a project for the summer. He had just watched a film called 'The Motorcycle Diaries' and I think that must have inspired him to do it.

He decided to buy his first bike from Ebay. Now I would advise that for your first bike you either buy a new one or buy a reliable second-hand one. He took the gamble and bid for one on Ebay. You should've seen his face when it arrived. It had to be dropped off because it didn't run!

I didn't see my mate for the next month or so. He was trying to find out as much as he could about how motorbikes worked. He also spent a fortune on custom motorcycle parts. He was determined it would work and look good. It was a very difficult project for him as he had no experience. I think that he was enjoying it though.

Anyway after spending all that time on it he just couldn't get it working. None of the custom motorcycle parts worked. This was a shame so he took it to a qualified mechanic who told him that the bike was dead and there was nothing that he could do.
