I'm having a Moving Sale....your ideas on prices?
I lost my job a couple of months ago and due to financial hardship I am selling off everything I own. I need to find ideas on what would be reasonable prices for some of these items:
1. 52" Toshiba HDTV-2 years old, Excellent Condition-paid $2,000 for it brand new
2. Kenmore Washer and Dryer--8 years old--still in good shape...XL capacity
3. Various appliances: blender/coffeemaker/toaster/microwave/crock pot...still in good condition, some items seldom used
4. Lot's of framed art, some large pieces and some small
6. Dishes (8 pc. setting, some items missing due to breakage) silverware, Pyrex and Corningware baking sets, skillets, pots, pans
7. Holiday decorations decorations, some handmade items
8. Several pieces of lead crystal...vases, candleholders, frames, serving platters...very good condition
9. Also selling my entire 100 pc. Barbie collection. I figured I would group items in a box and sell them by price ppoint.
Any ideas on prices or advice would help, thanks!
I would advise you check out eBay auctions as a way to price items - especially collectibles - if not outright sell some of your items. You can check out current bidding and pricing even if you aren't a member, get Live Help to steer you in the right direction if you get lost, and if you are a member, you can search for completed items and see what they ended up selling for.
Also, price things slightly higher than you're willing to take - this gives you a bargaining space and lets you come down a little, which will make people feel that they talked you into a price you were willing to take anyway.
Price things in easy numbers - whole dollar amounts when possible, or by five/ten amounts (charge $25 instead of $26, etc) and even going by nickels or dimes (in other words, don't have a 99 cent table or you'll have to carry around a bunch of pennies all day). Make things easier on yourself as far as making change - it also helps people when they are shopping to figure out how much they can spend.
